From the James Patterson quote and on is the best summary of this war and the current state of humanity I’ve ever read. I wish it could be forcefully broadcasted to every single American so that the millions of virtue signaling idiots that fall into the bucket of “not understanding common sense” could maybe, just MAYBE, get a dose of reality.
"Russia escalates significantly, more death ensues, the war does not stop" - Most likely scenario in short-term. Russia claims new territory from Ukraine on a daily basis.
From OSINT sources: "Notably, Ukrainian strikes appear to have deliberately avoided the more modern and nuclear-capable Tu-160 bombers, instead targeting the Tu-95 and Tu-22M3 platforms. These aircraft have been used extensively in missile attacks on Ukrainian cities. We believe this selectivity was a deliberate decision to avoid escalations by targeting key elements of Russia’s nuclear triad, while still degrading assets actively involved in conventional strikes."
My understanding is Russia has about 40 of those so allegations of directly striking Russia’s long-range nuclear capability and Ukrainian recklesness might be overestimated. Sime restraint is in place, it seems.
We are hurling towards Armageddon . Will the warmongers with Ukraine flags in their bios be the ones to pick up the pieces if we do go nuclear? From a realpolitik perspective, the U.S. benefits from closer relations with Russia. Because that then harms China and Iran.
That was a great article. You and I think really think alike, except that I’m an old guy who’s scared of crypto. One thing the media misses about the start of the Ukraine war was that the provinces that Russia invaded had a majority Russian population that was being harassed by Ukrainian right wing neo-Nazis. That was their excuse for the invasion, and it may have been justified. However, Russian culture has a long history of territorial expansion, so I doubt stopping at the Russian majority areas was in their plan. I think the war in Ukraine is an experimental proving ground for both the Russian and the US. Neither have facilitated the deep strike capabilities they are capable of, although this seems to be changing. Russia seems to be holding back its most capable forces while emptying its prisons and building up its long term capacities. I’m hoping they can be convinced that further war is not in their best interest, but I’m not optimistic.
"Being pro DEI/non merit based feels good until your kid can’t get into college with a 4.0 or get a job after graduating top in his class from a prestigious university"
Don't lump in pro-DEI and non-merit together. Legacy admissions advocates are pro-DEI and non-merit based advocates. That's the backdoor for rich idiots. Many underprivileged admits wreck legacy admits. So much for "merit" though.
Spot on article today!
